Momme measures silk density: how much fibre is woven into every square inch. Ours is 22 momme, noticeably denser than the 19 momme most brands use and far heavier than the 16 to 19 momme in budget “silk.”
The density is the point. It makes the case opaque in light colours, smooth enough to keep friction off skin and hair, and durable enough to hold its finish for years where thinner silk pills. And 22 momme still sleeps soft, cool and breathable.
Silk fibre is graded on length, uniformity, colour and defects. Grade 6A is the highest grade sold on the consumer market, and the only grade we buy.
Length is the whole story. Short strands leave thousands of fibre ends poking out of the weave, while 6A’s long, continuous strands give a smoother, tighter surface that keeps its sheen and resists pilling for years.
