The quiet difference a silk pillowcase makes.
Stop waking up to frizz, sleep creases, and the dry-skin texture cotton leaves behind. Silk is the one bedding upgrade that actually does something. Cool to the touch, smooth enough that hair does not catch overnight, gentle enough that your night serums stay on your face instead of soaking into the pillow.
Cotton drinks up your night cream and pulls at your face all night. Silk does neither. What you put on at 10pm is still there at 7am, and the pillow lines that used to take an hour to fade are simply gone.
The long-fibre Grade 6A weave reduces tug and snag while you move in your sleep. No morning halo, no broken ends, no rough texture by Wednesday.
Silk breathes naturally and regulates temperature, so you stay comfortable through the whole sleep cycle. Hot sleepers in particular notice the difference within a few nights.
Why silk, and not satin.
- Satin is a weave. It can be made from polyester, nylon, or cotton.
- Silk is a fibre. Mulberry silk is the fibre, 22 momme is the weight, 6A is the grade.
- Polyester satin makes you sweat, snags after a few washes, feels plasticky after a week.
- Mulberry silk thermo-regulates, lasts three to five years, gets softer with age.
If a "silk" pillowcase is under $30, it is almost always satin.

Common questions
What size should I order?
Aveloor comes in three sizes. Standard fits most US, UK, EU, and Australian pillows. If yours is deeper or continental-shaped, go Queen.
- Standard: 20" × 26" / 51 × 66 cm
- Queen: 20" × 30" / 51 × 76 cm
- King: 20" × 36" / 51 × 91 cm
All sizes include a hidden zip. Silk has a natural drape that forgives an inch or two either way.
Can I machine wash it, or does it need hand-washing?
Both work. Machine cold on a delicates cycle in a mesh laundry bag is fine with a silk-friendly detergent. Hand-washing cold is gentler and keeps the sheen longest. Never tumble dry, never use bleach or fabric softener. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
What detergent should I use?
A pH-neutral, enzyme-free detergent formulated for silk, wool, or delicates. Avoid anything marketed for stain-fighting or whitening (those usually contain enzymes or optical brighteners that break silk fibres down over time). In a pinch, a few drops of baby shampoo in cold water works.
What does "22 momme" mean?
Momme (mm) is the weight measurement for silk, like thread count is for cotton. Higher momme means denser, more durable, softer fabric. 19 momme feels thin. 25 momme and above can feel heavy and sleep warm. 22 momme is the category sweet spot: dense enough to last through years of washes, light enough to stay cool and soft. It's the weight every premium silk pillowcase brand uses for exactly these reasons.
What's the difference between silk and satin?
Silk is a natural fibre spun by silkworms. Satin is a weave pattern that can be made from any fibre, usually polyester in cheap bedding. Synthetic "satin pillowcases" look shiny but trap heat, feel plasticky against skin, and give you none of real silk's benefits. Once you've slept on proper silk, the difference is obvious.
Is it really 100% mulberry silk?
Yes. 100% Grade 6A long-fibre Mulberry silk on both sides. Some cheaper brands cut corners by using silk on one side and cotton on the other. We don't. Mulberry silk comes from silkworms fed a pure diet of mulberry leaves, producing the longest, smoothest, most uniform fibre. Grade 6A is the highest classification available. Our silk is OEKO-TEX certified safe, tested free from harmful substances.
Does it really help my hair and skin, or is it hype?
Both, with honest caveats.
For skin, silk's smooth surface reduces the friction that creates sleep creases and, over time, contributes to fine lines. It also doesn't drink up your night cream the way cotton does, so your skincare stays on your face.
For hair, the long-fibre 6A weave lets hair glide instead of snag. Less tangling, less breakage, less morning frizz. The effect is most dramatic on curly, wavy, or fine-textured hair. Straight thick hair still benefits from reduced bedhead.
Most people notice calmer hair in the first week. Skin changes are subtler and show over a few months.
How long does a silk pillowcase last?
With proper care, 3 to 5 years of nightly use. Longer if you rotate between two pillowcases. The key is cold washing and never tumble drying. 22 momme Grade 6A is the grade and weight specifically chosen for longevity. Cheap silk usually starts pilling within 12 months.
Will the colour fade or bleed in the wash?
No, provided you follow the care instructions. Our dyes are OEKO-TEX certified and cold-water-stable. Darker colours (Navy, Onyx) can lose a little vibrancy over many years of washing, as all silk does. Keep them out of direct sunlight when drying, and the colour holds.
Does it sleep hot or cool?
Cool. Silk is one of the most naturally temperature-regulating fabrics. It breathes better than cotton, wicks moisture, and stays cool to touch. 22 momme is specifically light enough to stay cool in warm weather while still feeling substantial in winter. If you sleep hot, silk is usually the first bedding upgrade that actually helps.
Will retinol, benzoyl peroxide, or facial oils stain it?
Benzoyl peroxide can bleach silk the same way it bleaches towels. If you use acne treatments with BP, wash and let your face dry before bed.
Retinol and most serums don't stain silk, because silk doesn't absorb them the way cotton does. That's one of its benefits. Your products stay on your skin, not your pillow.
Heavy facial oils can leave a faint mark on lighter colours if left overnight. Regular weekly washing handles it completely.
What's your return policy?
30-night sleep trial on every pillowcase. Actually sleep on it, not just look at it in the packet. If it's not for you, email us within 30 nights and we'll sort a full refund. You can send it back even after sleeping on it, as long as it's not damaged or washed against the care guide. Faulty items are always covered, whenever you bought them.
