How to measure your pillow
Takes 20 seconds. You'll need the pillow you're buying for, a flat surface, and a tape measure or ruler.
Lay the pillow flat
Uncompressed, on a bed or table. Don't trust the size printed on the packaging — new pillows compress 10–15% in the first few weeks of use, so always measure the pillow as it is now.
Measure the long edge
In centimetres or inches, whichever you prefer. Measure edge to edge, following the longest side. Ignore the short (20 inch / 51 cm) side. It's fixed and the same on every case.
Check the length
Our one case measures 30 inches (76 cm) long, cut with a little extra room for standard and queen pillows. If your pillow runs noticeably longer, it's likely a king pillow, and this case will feel too snug.
A few notes on fit
The answers to the three questions we get most often about pillow fit.
Size to the current pillow
A brand-new pillow will compress 10–15% in the first weeks of use. Ignore the dimensions on the packaging — measure the pillow as it is right now, not what it was in the shop.
Still works, but…
A flat pillow in a roomier silk case doesn't do anything wrong — you still get the smoother skin and hair benefits. But some of the slip-and-glide magic works best when the case is filled out. Good excuse for a new pillow.
King pillows won't fit
Our one case is cut for standard and queen pillows, the two most common sizes worldwide. A king pillow runs longer, so the case will feel snug rather than smooth. If that's what you sleep on, this isn't the right fit.
